Quicknode applies the following rate limits to requests made to the Admin API, Streams API, Webhooks API, Key-Value Store API, and SQL Explorer API.
This rate limiting is separate from endpoint and blockchain rate limits. It affects only administrative product APIs.
| Current and previous plan names | Sustained rate | Burst capacity |
|---|---|---|
| Free and Discover | 3 requests per second | 6 requests |
| Build, Discover Plus, and Starter | 20 requests per second | 60 requests |
| Accelerate and Growth | 40 requests per second | 120 requests |
| Scale | 60 requests per second | 120 requests |
| Business and Business Plus tiers 1–3 | 80 requests per second | 160 requests |
| Enterprise, including Enterprise proofs of concept | 250 requests per second | 500 requests |
Plans not listed above use the legacy default of 20 requests per second with a burst capacity of 40 requests.
Shared limit across product APIs
The rate limit is global across all five product APIs. Requests to the Admin, Streams, Webhooks, Key-Value Store, and SQL Explorer APIs consume capacity from the same bucket. The limits are not separate allowances for each API.
For example, an account on the Build plan can sustain a combined total of 20 requests per second across all five APIs and can temporarily burst up to 60 requests. Traffic to one product API reduces the capacity available to the others.
The sustained rate is the request rate available continuously. Burst capacity allows short traffic spikes above that rate; it does not increase the sustained limit.
Handling rate-limit responses
Requests that exceed the available capacity return an HTTP 429 Too Many Requests response. Throttle requests across all product API clients, limit concurrency, and retry rate-limited requests with exponential backoff and jitter.
