Parameters

REQUIRED

The type of trace, which can be one of the following:

vmTrace

string

To get a full trace of the virtual machine's state during the execution of the given transaction, including for any subcalls

trace

string

To get the basic trace of the given transaction

stateDiff

string

To get information on the state altered by the execution of the given transaction

blockNumber

string

The block number as a string in hexadecimal format or tags. The supported tag values include earliest for the earliest/genesis block, latest for the latest mined block, and pending for the pending state/transactions

Returns

The list of traced calls, one entry per requested call, which have the following fields (please note that all return types are hexadecimal representations of their data type unless otherwise stated):

The data which is returned as an output encoded in hexadecimal format

stateDiff

object

The state altered by the execution of the call, keyed by account address, and it is null when the stateDiff tracer is not requested

The action to be performed on the receiver id:

The type of method such as call or delegatecall

The gas provided by the sender, encoded as hexadecimal

The data sent along with the call

The integer of the value sent with this call, encoded as hexadecimal

The hash of the block in which the call was simulated

The number of the block in which the call was simulated (stated in decimal)

The result of the call:

The amount of gas used by this call alone

output

string

The value returned by the contract call, and it only contains the actual value sent by the RETURN method. If the RETURN method was not executed, the output is empty bytes

The number of contract calls made by this call

traceAddress

The list of addresses where the call executed, the address of the parents and the order of the current sub call

transactionHash

string

The hash of the simulated transaction the trace belongs to

transactionPosition

integer

The position of the simulated transaction in the block (stated in decimal)

The value of the method such as call or create
