I’m Carlos Reyes, and I’m the CEO of Rainmaker. Prior to Rainmaker, I’ve been building automated systems for personal DeFi investing for years, working on everything from arbitrage to MEV. My co-founder Brent was previously the VP of engineering at Hashflow, where he scaled trading volume from under $200M/yr to over $12B/yr.

Rainmaker’s mission is to be the operating system for DeFi. We’re an mpc + account-abstraction-based crypto wallet that enables 1-click, gas-sponsored entry into advanced investment strategies and deep protocol integrations. Ultimately, we want to completely revamp the DeFi experience to make it a breeze to create and interact with protocols.

When we started, we only offered a handful of protocol integrations and basic EOA style auth. We quickly realized that Account Abstraction (AA) secured by MPC is the future of crypto and quickly pivoted to create an AA+MPC wallet. We’ve also been working hard to create smooth native integrations with hot protocols as they come out, and we were able to onboard things like EigenLayer and Moonwell within days.

The next step for us is creating a developer platform that allows anyone to build on Rainmaker’s AA + onboarding infrastructure. This way devs can spend more time focusing on their smart contracts and core protocol offerings without having to spend time manually implementing AA and other product infrastructure. Think Vercel for dApps.

What inspired you to develop Rainmaker, and how did you conceive of the idea?

While owning tokens like BTC and ETH has become common, putting these tokens to use via DeFi remains prohibitively difficult for most people due to the complexity of the tooling and ecosystems. As a result, people leave money on the table, or worse, mismanage their investments and lose money.

If a user is motivated enough to make it past setup and funding, it’s still difficult to securely discover, enter, and manage complex DeFi strategies. Users often accidentally take on positions with unclear risk, sacrifice security and decentralization for convenience, or just hold tokens without earning any yield.

Ultimately the goal of investors is to execute on their investing thesis, and the complexities of the tooling and protocol interactions have merely been “part of the process.”

With MPC + account abstraction we can make this dead simple for the end user. That was extremely exciting to us, and we realized there’s a huge need for this if we’re going to continue to onboard new users into crypto.

Can you share how your company is utilizing QuickAlerts to monitor blockchain activities? How has the real-time notification feature of QuickAlerts helped in improving the responsiveness and efficiency of your operations?

We rely very extensively on QuickAlerts to help us index blockchain data for Rainmaker wallets on our backend. By being able to monitor blockchain events via QuickAlerts, we don’t have to run extremely expensive blockchain-watching infrastructure. Rather we can just react to the events that QuickAlerts pushed to us. More specifically, this allows us to create much faster APIs (as we can rely on our indexed data) and send push notifications when events like token transfers happen.

Can you provide insight into the target market for Rainmaker and what types of clients you work with?

We work with two primary audiences: DeFi folks (who interact with all of the latest protocols and are investing everywhere) and developers who want to build a slick experience to onboard new users onto their protocol.
