Shiden Network is a multi-chain decentralized application (dApp) platform built as a parachain on the Kusama Network. Kusama's Relaychain does not natively support smart contracts, so Shiden fills this gap by providing a smart contract layer that supports both Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and WebAssembly (WASM) environments. This dual virtual machine support allows developers to deploy a wide range of dApps, including DeFi protocols, NFT platforms, and Layer 2 scaling solutions, directly on Kusama.

The platform emphasizes interoperability by building bridges to multiple blockchains such as Ethereum, Secret Network, and Cosmos, enabling cross-chain dApp functionality. Shiden also introduces an innovative incentive mechanism where SDN token holders can stake tokens on their preferred dApps, rewarding both nominators and developers with SDN tokens. Developers can start by compiling Solidity contracts using standard Ethereum tools or Solang, a Solidity-to-WASM compiler, and deploy them first on Shiden's testnet called Dusty Network. After testing, contracts can be deployed on the main Shiden Network. The platform supports crowdloan campaigns during Kusama parachain auctions, allowing KSM holders to stake tokens and earn SDN rewards.
