Berachain Overview
Berachain is a Layer 1 blockchain built on the Cosmos SDK and designed with a unique Proof-of-Liquidity consensus mechanism. Unlike traditional Proof-of-Stake systems, Berachain's validators are selected based on their contributions to decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols, aligning network security with DeFi participation. Berachain maintains full EVM compatibility, enabling seamless migration of Ethereum applications.
The network features three native tokens: BGT (governance token), BERA (gas token), and HONEY (overcollateralized stablecoin), creating an innovative economic model that incentivizes active participation in the DeFi ecosystem while maintaining network security.
Interacting with Berachain's APIs
Berachain nodes expose a JSON-RPC interface that is compatible with Ethereum's JSON-RPC API. This means developers can use Ethereum's native tools, such as Foundry, Hardhat, and popular Web3 libraries, without modification.
However, due to Berachain's architectural differences, some RPC methods may behave differently from those on Ethereum.
