XRPL EVM Overview

XRPL EVM is an Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible sidechain that extends the XRP Ledger ecosystem by enabling Ethereum smart contract capabilities. Built on the Cosmos SDK with a Proof-of-Authority consensus model, it uses XRP as the native gas token, providing ultra-low transaction fees and fast block finalization in 3-5 seconds. The sidechain supports full Ethereum compatibility, allowing developers to deploy Solidity smart contracts, use MetaMask, and leverage existing Ethereum tooling while benefiting from XRPL's speed and cost-efficiency. With Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) support and Axelar Network integration, XRPL EVM enables seamless interoperability across 120+ Cosmos ecosystem blockchains and cross-chain asset transfers.

Interacting with XRPL EVM

XRPL EVM exposes a standard Ethereum JSON-RPC interface, allowing developers to interact with the network using familiar Ethereum tools and libraries. You can query balances, transactions, and contract state; send transactions; and deploy or interact with smart contracts directly.

Because XRPL EVM is an EVM-compatible sidechain built with the Cosmos SDK and powered by CometBFT consensus, most Ethereum JSON-RPC methods are supported, though some endpoints or behaviors may differ. For the latest API details, refer to the official XRPL EVM documentation.
