Last week, Quicknode attended ETHIndia 2019 as an event sponsor! We encountered a vibrant Ethereum community, building a variety interesting projects. Around ~1900 candidates registered, of which around ~68% were new to the Ethereum ecosystem. This tells us that Ethereum is attracting new developers — fantastic!

Quicknode’s Workshop
We got the chance to present Quicknode and how developers can use it to build cool new projects. We demonstrated how one can build a simple Ethereum Block Explorer using Quicknode and web3.js. Check our talk 👇

Here comes Vitalik
We also had a chance to listen to Vitalik via live video steam. He talked about Ethereum’s scalability and also answered questions from the audience. Check it out 👇 if you missed it!

We interacted with almost all the teams and there were many promising projects. Candidates were building all sorts of dApps from DeFi (decentralized finance), to Wallet and privacy solutions. 61 teams submitted their projects… among them were projects which reached the final round and won prizes (see below).
Dost.network: This team built a privacy-preserving burner wallet using ring signatures. They used an encrypted savings account protect by a PIN, which is connected to a Smart Contract (your wallet with ETH). So when you top up the burner wallet, your ETH passes through a ring mixer and gets withdrawn to your burner wallet savings account. This way you don’t need to reveal how much ETH you have while using the Burner wallet. Here is the full demo:
Lendz: This team built privacy-preserving loans using zero-knowledge with Aztec-protocol and Lendroid project. The main idea was to provide lending with privacy. They performed protocol-level changes to Lendriod’s Smart Contract in order to integrate zero-knowledge. Check out the full demo 👇
1lend.io- This team built a Crypto lending aggregator. With 1lend you can earn interest by lending your tokens across the different lending protocols such as Compound or Dharma. So cool for #DeFi! Check full demo 👇
Tessa: This team built a decentralized torrent search engine using Torus and IPFS Orbit DB. Using Tessa, anyone can submit a torrent with a magnet link which will be stored in IPFS’s orbit DB, and can be searched easily. The search engine uses decentralized infrastructure, so it can’t be taken down. Check out their demo. 👇
Credeth: This team built an open reputation protocol. They tried to mimic how the current credit score works by providing multiple options to build a reputation. For example, if you own an ENS domain, you will earn some reputation; if you lend some Ether on a lending protocol or create a CDP, you will earn some reputation. Check out the demo:
NuAztec: This team built selective-ZKP (zero-knowledge proofs) access-control lists using NuCypher and Aztec. The idea is to authorize access to a zero-knowledge system to selective people using view keys. You can check out the full demo.
In addition to the above projects, there were many projects with superb ideas. We interacted with a lot of new developers, projects and sponsors. We were amazed to see how Ethereum community attracts developers in India, even after a regulatory crackdown. Developers are the real moat of the Ethereum ecosystem. Any other project in blockchain space will have a really tough time replicating such a diverse, inclusive, enthusiastic community!
Quicknode loves #web3 developers — so if you are building something cool around Ethereum, let us know on Twitter (we’ll shout you out)!
