Balancer is a decentralized automated market maker (AMM) and DEX built around customizable liquidity pools. Unlike constant-product AMMs limited to two assets at equal weight, Balancer lets anyone create pools with multiple tokens and custom weightings, which makes it useful for swaps, index-like portfolios, and flexible liquidity provision.
Its smart-order routing splits trades across pools for efficient pricing and low slippage, and liquidity providers earn a share of swap fees plus any available incentives. The protocol is governed by BAL token holders through the Balancer DAO.
