LayerZero is an open-source omnichain interoperability protocol designed to enable decentralized applications (dApps) to communicate and transfer data seamlessly across multiple blockchains. It provides a low-level messaging primitive that allows smart contracts to send and receive arbitrary data, tokens, and function calls across chains with high security and censorship resistance. The protocol is immutable and permissionless, allowing anyone to run infrastructure components such as Decentralized Verifier Networks (DVNs) and Executors to support message validation and execution.
