Gravity

Gravity Bridge is a decentralized, open-source blockchain interoperability solution designed to connect the Cosmos ecosystem with Ethereum. It enables seamless transfer of assets such as ERC20 tokens (e.g., DAI, USDC) from Ethereum into Cosmos-based blockchains and vice versa, allowing Cosmos assets like ATOM to be represented and traded as ERC20 tokens on Ethereum decentralized exchanges and DeFi platforms. The bridge leverages the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol to facilitate cross-chain communication and asset transfers without requiring each Cosmos chain to operate its own bridge infrastructure.

The core of Gravity Bridge is built on Cosmos SDK and integrates Ethereum smart contracts to lock and mint tokens securely. Validators observe events on both chains and relay proofs to ensure trustless asset transfers. The system supports bidirectional transfers: locking Ethereum assets to mint Cosmos representations and burning Cosmos assets to release Ethereum tokens. The bridge also includes modules like the Gravity Auction Module for decentralized token distribution and supports integration with Ethereum AMMs and DeFi protocols.

Developers can integrate Gravity Bridge by deploying the Peggy modules into their Cosmos-SDK chains or using the provided demo application. Setting up involves running the bridge chain, deploying Ethereum contracts, and operating relayers that monitor and relay cross-chain events. The project provides comprehensive documentation, including setup guides for local testing, Ropsten testnet integration, and relayer operation.
