DeepBook

DeepBook is a decentralized limit order book (LOB) protocol implemented as a smart contract on the Sui blockchain. It enables developers and DeFi teams to build order book-based trading applications with features such as limit orders, market orders, and swaps. The protocol is designed to leverage Sui's Move programming language and its high-performance blockchain infrastructure to provide a scalable and composable trading experience. DeepBook is primarily intended for developers familiar with Sui and Move who want to integrate decentralized trading capabilities into their dapps or build custom DeFi products.

The protocol requires users to run or connect to a Sui full node, either locally or on testnet/mainnet, and interact with the DeepBook smart contracts via the Sui client CLI or SDK. It supports creating and publishing Move packages, managing custodian accounts for limit orders, minting tokens, and placing various order types through command-line calls. DeepBook also integrates with Sui Wallet for token management and transaction signing.

What sets DeepBook apart is its focus on a fully on-chain limit order book model on Sui, contrasting with AMM-based DEXs common on other chains. It offers granular control over order parameters like tick size, lot size, maker rebates, and taker fees, enabling customized pool creation. Currently, DeepBook is in active development with code and docs hosted on GitHub. It supports testnet and localnet environments for experimentation. Developers can get started by setting up a Sui node, installing Rust and Sui dev tools, publishing the DeepBook package, and following the documented CLI commands to create pools, mint tokens, and place orders.
