Quick Fact
Lens Protocol reimagines the social layer of the internet by allowing users to own their content, profiles, and relationships on-chain through a modular, smart contract-based design.
Lens Protocol is a decentralized social graph built on the Polygon blockchain that allows users to own their identity, content, followers, and interactions across all Lens-based applications. Every user action—following, posting, commenting—is recorded as an on-chain transaction, creating a portable and composable Web3 social identity.
Lens is designed to be composable and modular, giving developers the freedom to build Web3-native social experiences such as social networks, publishing platforms, DAOs, and creator economies. Developers can use Lens APIs or interact directly with its smart contracts to create custom UIs and social functionalities while tapping into a shared user base and content ecosystem.
Profiles are represented as NFTs, allowing users to maintain control of their identity across any Lens-based app. Publications, follows, and mirrors are also NFTs or smart contract interactions, making content portable, monetizable, and censorship-resistant. Users can seamlessly move between apps while retaining all their social data and following graph.
