What is Base?
Base is designed to be a secure, low-cost, and builder-friendly environment for building decentralized apps (dApps). Leveraging the inherent security of Ethereum and the best practices of Coinbase, Base provides a confident platform for developers to onramp from Coinbase, Ethereum L1, and other interoperable chains.

How Does Base Work?
Built on top of Ethereum, Base serves as an L2 solution, maintaining the security of the Ethereum network while achieving higher throughput and lower costs. It leverages Optimism, a protocol that enables high-speed, low-cost Ethereum transactions, and is designed to be modular and rollup-agnostic.
The core technology behind Base is the open-source OP Stack, which is licensed under MIT. It provides the basis for creating a standardized, modular, and rollup-agnostic superchain.
